by Oliver Kube (29.01.2009) These youngsters deliver their catchy and decent songs as a mixture of melancholic Emo, a dash of street Punk, and a lot of Alternative sounds, very melodic, sometimes even sunny, and bristling with power. Their second opus "Tomorrow, I’ll play god" (released 2006) was good, but on "Best off", the quintet has developed even further concerning sound and compositions. 5Bugs strut their stuff on this one: the fast and furious "We stop at nothing", "The fiction" with its radio appeal, pumping "Phantoms" or atmospheric "Wake me after midnight" are proofs of their musical prowess. Seasoned Rock aficionados and fans of Taking Back Sunday or Funeral For A Friend will enjoy this, as will the considerably younger following of Stanfour. A versatile, yet very homogenous album - hats off to front man Christian Dumhard and his boys.
