11.The end
by Christian Albers (30.10.2009) At the beginning of the 90s, Seattelites Pearl Jam released their debut "Ten", and together with Nirvana, Mudhoney and Soundgarden, they started the Grunge era and made that kind of music suitable for MTV. "Backspacer" is their ninth studio album - and the boys (who are in their 40s now) prove that they still live and love Grunge. Their sound has remained unmodified. And why should they change it? Many other big bands have changed things - it didn't do them any good. Pearl Jam always have stayed true to their sound: possibly one of the secrets for their success. And that's why I say that "Backspacer", like all other Pearl Jam albums, once again is a milestone in the history of Grunge - even if some say that this era ended with the death of Kurt Cobain.
