by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (20.03.2007) The blood soaking Germans still don't try to hide their liking for the very catchy Six Feet Under-grooves: if the Americans cover AC/DC's Hardrock classic, "Back in black", Debauchery simply call their fourth album "Back in blood". With the accompanying simple, red cover - and a whole range of cover versions on the bonus cd - reaching from Genesis via Rammstein to Manowar and Six Feet Under's "War is coming" in a chillout version. After the campfire version of their own classic, "Blood for the bloodgod", this is the band's next ironic move. With "Praise the bloodgod", you also get a continuation of the successful story. The band kept their recipe of sparse tempo changes and maximum riff repetitions, yet skilfully varied with great guitar leads and some rockier basic approach. "Alcohol fuelled brutality" clarifies upon the motivation to copy the "Death metal maniac" and "Butcher of bitches" (including "Pleasure slave"-groaning). Perfect Live- and disco food!
