by Markus Eck (24.07.2009) It's almost unbelievable: the band started already around 1964, but just many many years later, the wacky Metal parodists were discovered by media and fans. You didn't hear a peep from them for a long time - until July 2007, when Spinal Tap performed "Warmer than hell" (a song written especially for them) during that Live Earth concert in Wembley Stadium. Finally, their new album is available, and once again, Spinal Tap pretend to be exactly the same half-fictitious Hard Rock resp. Heavy Metal outfit pulling the legs of anyone and anything in the music biz. "Back from the dead" contains rerecordings of old songs and five completely new tracks. Ironic titles such as "Rock ’n’ Roll creation", "Hell hole", "Celtic blues", or "Short and sweet" make it pretty obvious: these almost indestructible blokes still know their trade for sure; they haven't put on any rust since "Break like the wind" - and that was released in 1992!
