    Awaking The Centuries

by Lothar Landt (07/01) After their two studio records "And thou shalt trust... the seer" and "Awakening the centuries", Haggard now release their "Live in Mexico". On first sight, this may be a bit early, but Haggard offer a really interesting album. Alone their excellent mixture of Heavy Metal, classical elements and Medieval compositions which could be called unique, because it's far more traditional (in the best sense) than e.g. Subway To Sally or Tanzwut. The 16-piece band incorporating strings, horns and classical choirs is offering a first-class performance, added are those skilled compositions that can always convince. This band has really deserved to come out of the dark and be presented to a broad audience. Lyrically, the songs are based on Nostradamus, musically we get cross-links to Rachmaninov. "Live in Mexico" is not only released on c.d. but also on VHS, DVD and DVD plus, so that we can already be curious on the visual transformation of this spectacle. Brilliant!!! (Lothar Landt - 08/01)
