by Olaf Plotke (July 2004) Gothic Rock is still alive. Best example is the band Lacrimas Profundere. Releasing their second album, this band has already become a solid part of the scene. Their debut album, "Fall, I will follow" got them more than just praise: euphoric critics in music magazines, charting success and concerts all over the world. With "Ave End", the band now shows that their success was not only by chance. The album presents itself as an exceptional piece of music from the first to the last of the 44 minutes. "Ave End" sounds as if it would feature the best of Type O Negative, Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode and Paradise Lost on a single album. Yet, Lacrimas Profundere manage to combine common gothic elements with metal and 70s rock elements in such a great way that it results in their very own style. And when this almost completely heavy driving forward album ends with a Pink Floyd-like, hypnotic finale you remain seated in front of your stereo having only one wish: more of this!
