by Jürgen Tschamler (15.04.2010) "Ashes to ashes" is the first (and also pretty impressive) live release by the Swedes and their new singer Rob Lowe. Das CD/DVD package is a yummy tidbit for the Doom maniac: the DVD features the band's 2009 Sweden Rock gig and a concert in the Club Gagarin (in Athens, Greece), plus a longer interview with the band, more bonus footage (photo gallery etc.), and the CD consists of the Sweden Rock sound recordings. Film footage and sound are excellent, and the boys really strut their stuff. The band performs three tracks of their last studio album "Death magic doom"at Sweden Rock, and even smashers like "Solitude" from the "Epicus doomicus metallicus" CD, or "Samarithan" from the "Nightfall" album (both recorded with Messiah at the Mike). Lowe definitely is the better singer, proven impressively by his brilliant cover version of the Rainbow evergreen "Kill the king"! What a voice! All in all, "Ashes to ashes" is a nice documentary on a combo on top of its game.
