13.City of a Million Graves
by Jürgen Tschamler (03.11.2008) Toxic Holocaust, established 1999, touched the verge of Punk with their last two albums And now, band boss Joel Grind can proudly present one of the best Retro Thrash outputs within the last years, one with an almost frightening authenticity. All thirteen songs are absolute stunners - old school Thrash has never sounded crisper and fresher. These tracks (produced by Jack Endino) have balls! You know the expression "pedal to the metal"? Well, this is it - and then some more. Drummer Donny Paycheck has had a tough and sweaty job with Zeke already, but that was a walk in the park compared to this stint! This is top-notch thrashing with murderous riffs. "City of a million graves", "War game", "Gravelord": you’ll be steamrollered & pulverised - and you’ll love it. The music doesn’t sound too simple or exaggeratedly retro, or brutally unemotional, though you’ll almost see the sweat, the blood, the adrenaline oozing from the musicians when you’ll hear them yell "... war is fucking hell!" on "War is hell". Stunning!!
