by Manfred Ollenthaler (03.02.2009) Founded 1995 as Funeral and rooted in Death/Gothic Metal, these Finnish aficionados of the dark have undergone a remarkable development regarding their technical and atmospherical level. "Armortean" is a classy album, offering dynamic and compositorial quality. Songstress Riina Rinkinen dominates the nine songs with her angelic voice - you'll be immediately intoxicated. Her striking counterpart is bass player Matti Aikio, delivering the occasional growl, and some male clear vocals, which are used sparsely, but effectively -check out "The fallen ones with you tonight", and "My broken angel". I'd also recommend the latter as a listening tip. The complete album is very dark and atmospheric, and all songs are potential hits - if you like Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Theatre Of Tragedy and other genre greats, you'll love this.
