Old Punk school pairs up with Pop and pathos, Coldplay, The Cure, Idllewild, Jimmy Eat World, Buffalo Tom and Bad Religion gather for the choirs and frontman Matthias is outing his inner self, spits, screams, and whispers his stories of love, dullness and loneliness to the bone. Pelle Gunnerfeldt (Hives, Refused, Moneybrother) added the right decibels and since the quartet after endless touring (e.g. in support of The Kooks, Madsen, The Subways, Louis XIV and We Are Scientists) can already rely on a huge fan base, this debut album will fall on fruitful ground. Winning takes place on the field, and it is here – live, on stage – that the songs of Leo Can Dive develop an undertow that you can hardly resist. Still, the album also works on the sofa – and outside Duisburg, too.
