by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (29.01.2009) After three albums and nine years, Nienke de Jong gave her last concert as a member of Autumn in February 2008 - partially because she had some health issues and partially because she wanted to spread her wings a bit more as a studio owner and musician. Marjan Welman, though, is more than in interim solution. Before she joined Autumn, she had been part of the last Ayreon album line-up which is an accolade per se - after all, Arjen A. Lucassen has a knack for finding young talents, especially songstresses. By the way: heβd like the Hammond sounds on the opener "Paradise nox"... Club gigs and performances at almost every big summer festival created an iron bond between the band and Marjan which youβll notice when listening to the 11 songs (12 on the digi pak edition) on "Altitude". Gothic Metal is a Dutch trademark, alongside windmills, tulips and clogs. Whatever direction The Gathering will take without Anneke: Autumn are ready to take over.
