by Markus Eck (29.03.2010) On their last, very successful, output "Theogonia", the Greeks already offered this mighty mixture of sincere Black Metal and hypnotic ethno-cum-folklore elements - but not as harmonious, homogenous, and skillfully intertwined as on this one. Some of these sounds are totally original and have never been heard before. The instrumentations are pure ear candy and technically extremely versatile - Rotting Christ add some extra elegance to their creations on "Aealo" by spicing them with intoxicating evocations of shamanic sounds. Everything's perfect on "Aealo": attitude, authenticity,credibility, innovation, and skills. The whole album is very atmospheric, and in spite of the toughness, which is standard in this genre, often very emotional.
