Article description

After around 24 years of history, Böhse Onkelz came to an end. Their last album entitled "Adios" sees the band say their farewells to their countless fans. The recordings of the 15 spot-on songs written by Stephan Weidner show the band at the peak of their musical creativity. Despite being a farewell album, "Adios" shows a certain easiness and irony, something Böhse Onkelz has always been known for.

by Matthias Mineur (July 2004) Not quite easy for the guys Weidner, Röhr, Schorowsky and Russell to find the right tone on their farewell album. Should they be mourning? Should they be experimenting at last? Are there things they've always wanted to say and for which 'Adios' is the final chnace? Nothing of all that. The Onkelz have agreed to end their career with a real big rock opus. Just a short moment of sadness, for the rest the Frankfurt based punk rock train rolls straight forward. Especially the rhythm part were explicitly controlled and refined with powerful grooves and heavyweight drum parts. All that is added by Matthias 'Gonzo' Röhr's clean rock guitar that roars and howls and consequently perfectly suits Kevin Russell's grater voice. Also lyricist Stephan Weidner adapted to that and wrote some more than ever unrespectful rock messages that leave only one prognosis: the Onkelz fans will still celebrate their idols long after their gone.
