by Olaf Plotke (18.01.2007) "A storm to come" is probably the most unusual Metal album that I have ever heard. Because Van Canto are, as far as I'm concerned, the first A-Cappella-Metal-band in the world. Don't panic, "A storm to come" is no Pop! This album is pure Metal - epic, brutal, powerful, but without guitars, without bass. Four singers, one songstress and a drummer bang down nine heavy Metal hymns hardly leaving you time to breathe. If you don't listen closely it is not even striking that no guitars are being played, but humans skilfully imitate the riff blast with "Racka-Tacka"-vocals. It is self-evident that all nine songs are carried by great refrains, inviting you to sing along. This band must be the killer on stage, but already on record I can hardly describe the hugeness of this outfit. Just listen to the cover version of Metallica's "Battery" and you know what I mean. Since Apocalyptica no other band has dared such a risk. And the result is equally great.
