by Markus Eck (08.04.2010) On her first solo album, Deva, one of the most renowned Black Metal background songstresses, works her vocal chords very decently. Guitarist Ken Newman and drummer Max Blumos build the sturdy foundation, and the lady is further supported by two ex -Cradle Of Filth musicians, bassist Dave Pybus and keyboardist Martin Powell. "A sign of sublime" often reveals new facets of the British siren (who is otherwise busy with her own combo Angtoria) - sometimes very surprising ones you wouldn't have expected after all those successful Cradle releases... That makes this CD all the more interesting - the dark, melodic Gothic melange being the perfect fit for her voice. Various atmospheric and epic parts, sometimes even with a dash of Rock, top off this very nice sign of sublime.
