by Sonja Angerer (03.02.2009) You might have already guessed it from the title of this DVD: originally, "A knot of" was planned to be a mere fan DVD for the Dir En Grey fan club "A knot" - to the chagrin of other J Rock fans: you have to have a Japanese address for membership. Well, all the better that the collection with roundabout 90 minutes of live footage is also available here now. If you haven’t seen the band on stage so far, you can at least watch them on tv now. You shouldn’t have too high expectations regarding the film quality, though - but that is unimportant anyway when you’re carried away by the fantastic atmosphere of a Dir en Grey live performance. Above all, singer Kyo gives everything and his blood on stage - literally. The band is filmed during their concerts within the last three years: in the Columbiahalle in Berlin, the performances at the biggest European festivals (Wacken, for example), until that legendary, sold-out, two-days show at the Budokan in Tokyo: as if Godzilla had been in town...
