On "7" released in 2003, In Extremo increasingly worked with Rock elements, but softened the Rammstein-like riffing. In addition to own compositions, interpretations of traditional texts like "Erdbermund" were set to music.

With their magical 7th album, In Extremo have finally left the Medieval markets: powerful metal crossover and "Neue Deutsche Härte" stamp the picture. The historical instruments have stepped into the back in favour of the wild roaring of huge guitars. The powerful voice of the last unicorn holds the frame for this initially unusual picture and at the latest with the first single, "Küss mich" it's clear: yep, this thing works out. The 7 who can be called the inventors of Medieval rock have kicked the genre in the ass - and went forward into the future, yet without denying their past. That fits together with the fact that "7" was not recorded in Berlin but for the first time in the Principal-Studios with the producer team, Vince Sorg and Jörg Umbreit. Thomas D (Fanta 4) and Henning (H-Blockx) have guest appearances. In In Extremo you can only be sure about one thing: nothing is safe and everything turns out fine! (Sonja Angerer - 03/07)
