10.Come all ye faithful
by Jürgen Tschamler (19.02.2010) The Metal god goes Christmas? Uh-oh. Just remember that Twisted Sister Christmas catastrophe "A twisted Christmas" - that was reeeally awful. Well, "Winter songs" is not THAT bad. Apart from the Christmas standards like "O holy night" or "Come all ye faithful", there's a lot of original compositions brimming with The Spirit of Christmas. A real icebreaker: the opening song "Get into the spirit" - more Judas Priest than the last Priest album! The rest of the stuff is very moderate. Many epic songs ( "Winter song", "Light of the world") make for the usual holiday schmaltz - nice, but not too new... Check out "I don`t care": a goody, reminding me of the "Point of entry" days. Halford's voice leaves its mark on the tracks, making them unique. Oh, and maybe it's worth mentioning that top Metal musicians like Roy Z, Metal Mike Chlasciak, and mighty Bobby Jarzombek are also part of the ensemble.
