by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (04.03.2008) I hope, Devin Townsend is as erratic as Dan Swanö, whose decisions have never been absolutely final. Otherwise, he could well live without the aggression valve, Strapping Young Lad and this package would be the last new SYL release. Unfortunately, Peter Steele had used the Best-Of title, "The least worst of" years ago already – this self irony would have suited the Canadian queer fellow. The album features 17 progressive destruction orgies of the five released studio albums without going for any rarities or other surprises. Among the seven video clips on the DVD, the fan also finds the often refused secret live hit, "Detox". The range goes from the sick "S.y.l." to the comparably calm "Almost again" that rather reminds me of Devin’s solo records. Did you miss Strapping Young Lad on the Rock am Ring Festival? The set from the English Download-Festival makes up for this. Devin shouts ("Stop clapping!") and flirts with the audience, makes faces, plays and sings like a young god. This all is supposed to end now?
