by Matthias Mader (09.07.2007) This is an exotic delicacy: "Furubita" or "Mouja no koushin". "13's reborn" begins like once Venom'’s "Black metal" with a cacophony of noises before the slap-bass comes in. And the album goes on in the same unconventional way. If you haven't guessed yet, Girugämesh come from Japan and also sing in their native tongue (the accompanying translation of the lyrics is already worth the purchase of the CD). Although Girugämesh obviously orientate in Western ideals (and at least look as good as Tokio Hotel) they still sound very exotic and unique. The vocals are very melodic in their own way, the compositions change between Melodic Punk and Neo Metal of bands like Linkin Park or Korn (without sounding so grim, by the way). All that is added by Girugämesh's Asian flair and the very LoFi-production that somehow doesn't seem to fit the stylistic genre conventions. "13'’s reborn" is an album that leaves me in astonished recognition.
