In their very first year, Hogwarts students are sorted into one of the four iconic houses by the Sorting Hat, based on magical talent and personal character. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are not only the names of these houses but also honour the four great founders of Hogwarts Castle.

You can even dress in the official Hogwarts uniform design and proudly show which house your Harry Potter fan heart belongs to.

Hogwarts: The Feud between Gryffindor and Slytherin

Hogwarts was founded by four legendary witches and wizards: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. United by a shared dream of creating a magical school, their partnership sadly fractured over the question of student admissions.

Salazar Slytherin wished to accept only pure-blood students, while Godric Gryffindor firmly disagreed, wanting to welcome all magically gifted children, regardless of family background. This disagreement sparked the historic rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin - a feud that lives on through characters like Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy.

No matter which house you support, the EMP shop offers a treasure trove of Harry Potter figurines, posters, T-shirts and more, so every fan can find something special.

Fun Facts every Hogwarts Fan should know

• Fact 1: Hogwarts is in Scotland
While fans long speculated about Hogwarts’ location, J.K. Rowling confirmed in an interview that the castle is hidden somewhere in Scotland. To keep it secret from Muggles, it’s magically disguised as a ruined fortress.
• Fact 2: How Albus Dumbledore nearly didn’t happen
In the first two Harry Potter films, Richard Harris played headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Initially, he didn’t want the role - until his eleven-year-old granddaughter threatened never to speak to him again if he turned it down.
• Fact 3: A Headmaster without Homework
Michael Gambon, who took over as Dumbledore from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, chose not to read the books before filming. Instead, he based his portrayal entirely on the film scripts.
