The most successful fantasy novel series in the world was created by the British writer Joanne K. Rowling, and centres around the schoolboy wizard Harry Potter. Since 2016, this story has been expanded by another nine instalments. The new work is named after the fictitious book Hogwarts wizarding students use to learn more about the strange creatures of their world: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film is an adventure which explores some of the ideas stemming from the world of Harry Potter.

The plot takes place before the events of the Harry Potter series, in America. The film, for which a number of sequels are already planned, was nominated for an Oscar in two categories in 2017, and won the coveted prize for the Best Costume Design. You can find Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them fan merch and clothing here in the EMP Online Shop.

Newt Scamander and his companion

The magical zoologist Newt Scamander is the main character in the new series. The Brit lands in New York with a magical suitcase full of rare creatures – and soon loses his precious possession. The motif of the suitcase, which can fit a great number of items, is a particularly popular symbol for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them fan merch – and can be found on the Suitcase Wizard T-shirt, for example.

After the suitcase isn’t just lost but also opened, inexplicable events begin to occur in New York: when an escaped Niffler (available as a print on a mug in the EMP Online Shop, by the way) goes on the search for gold and jewels, the risk of being discovered is high. You’ll need the Magical Exposure Socks, which help to remind a witch or wizard not to reveal themselves in front of Muggles.

In New York in the 1920s, when the film series is set, there are of course non magical people who actually want to bring the wizards down. Newt Scamander, though, manages to find a helpful No Maj with his heart in the right place, and the cheeky witch Tina, who was disgraced by the Magical Congress through no fault of her own, and must now fight for her career as well as for the future of the wizarding world.

At first the unorthodox Scamander unnerves her, but she’s soon drawn in by him and his British charm. As the plot unravels, they get to know each other well and a friendship begins to blossom. If you don’t know the whole story yet, or only caught the film at the cinema, you can find the Blu-ray DVD (also as a Blu-ray 3D and a regular DVD), as well as the Oscar-nominated soundtrack in the EMP Fantastic Beasts Online Shop, ready for a magical experience in your own living room. Popcorn at the ready!

Vintage looks for fantasy fans

In keeping with the story’s setting in New York shortly after the turn of the 20 th century, you can find the right merch items in the EMP Online Shop, for example the Fantastic Beasts T-shirt featuring the bubbly character Queenie Goldstein. For those who stand on the good side of the magical world, there’s also merchandise featuring a Magical Congress of the United States of America print, for example on the Macusa hoodie and the matching copper-coloured earrings with the parliament’s logo.

For a stylish vintage look, there are also tailored dresses which match the style of the clothing in the film, featuring the motifs of the wizarding world, available in the EMP Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Online Shop. The Magical New York dress is printed with little pictures of Newt Scamander’s suitcase and the No Magic symbol. An overview of the world is available from the EMP Fantastic Beasts merchandise range in the form of the medieval style Mappa Mundi.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in the EMP Online Shop

There is always a serious message behind J. K. Rowling's works that transcends the boundaries of the magical world. For example, Newt Scamander’s quotes on the Natural T-shirt in the EMP Fantastic Beasts merchandise range remind every (magical) zoologist of their commitment to the love of nature. The Extremely Dangerous T-shirt with its ornate logo commemorates the persecution of heroes in history, when the Magical Congress was tricked by Grindelwald. Also discover exciting Harry Potter T-shirts and Harry Potter Harry Potter cups and immerse yourself in the magical world of J.K. Rowling.

By the way: the majority of our Harry Potter clothing is exclusively available from us! It’s not just clothing that you’ll find in the shop, though, but also magical Harry Potter jewellery.
