More than just crusades, the Black Death and robber barons: the Middle Ages are becoming increasingly popular. The ever-growing number of medieval markets, spectacula, knights' banquets and tournaments speaks for this: every season, from Bavaria to the North Sea, hundreds of events take place in Germany that transport visitors back to the time of knights, castles and guilds.
From serious reenactments to cosy mead-drinking at the market to debauched knights' banquets, connoisseurs of course know that the right garb is always important - and that you should never call it a "costume". But clothing in the style of the Middle Ages is not only an eye-catcher at Satzvey Castle, Bad Münster am Stein or Freienfels: the classic, comfortable shirts are also a style statement in everyday life.
For burghers, scribes, knights and pirates
The classic among medieval garments is certainly the classic, wide-cut lace-up shirt, often called a "pirate shirt". There are two variants from the Medieval line: On the one hand, the plain shirt in white or black, laced in front of the chest, which, thanks to its simple design, can be used both for the simple craftsman and as an undergarment for the armoured knight.
On its own or under a tunic, it is a good choice for all medieval occasions. The elaborate, noble frilled shirt from the same collection, on the other hand, has a more early modern feel and is suitable for garb in the style of fine gentlemen of rank as well as for a Renaissance man or a guild master. All these shirts are comfortable and airy even in the burning sun thanks to their loose cut and impress with their historically interpreted look - even if A-fanatics will surely criticise you for not growing your own flax and spinning it into linen. But you can't and don't have to please some people.

The right choice even in the modern age
Medieval enthusiasm is not limited to visuals: medieval folk and rock have become an integral part of the hard scene at least since In Extremo, Schandmaul & Co. Festivals of their own, from Feuertanz to their own Wackinger Village on the world-famous holy land in the far north, speak a very clear language. In contrast to the medieval market, the "dress codes" are more open here, but again, medieval-looking garb is a plus.
The shirts in the EMP Online Shop also harmonise perfectly with the kilts so popular at these events and are an interesting alternative to the typical band shirt.
Classic chic for the Goth outfit
The black scene has always had a particularly close relationship with history. Not only were the roots of its art and subculture laid centuries ago by Byron, Poe and the Fin de Siécle, but the medieval style also enjoys great popularity. The Medieval ruffled shirt from the EMP Online Shop is particularly popular on its own or in combination with the noble jewellery from the Alchemy England range. This way, you can add a particularly unusual touch to your gothic outfit.
Soft weapons, tough guys
Last but not least, medieval garb is also very popular in the LARP scene: from "Vampire: The Masquerade" to the typical fantasy LARP, you are well equipped with the laced shirts from Medieval. The ruffled shirt again lends itself to aristocracy or style-conscious bloodsuckers. The classic laced shirts can be used for everything from the ever-popular "Peasant Sepp" to the rough-and-tumble Landsknecht and are an excellent basis for a camp outfit or a more complex garment with tunic, belt and leg warmers.
Whatever scene your heart beats for, whether you are a history fan, a LARP friend of the goddess Anna Chronisma or part of the black scene, with the shirts from Medieval you always carry a piece of history with you. And if we are doomed to repeat history, at least you can look chic doing it.
