The Red Hot Chili Peppers have turned a corner yet again. After the band’s crisis in their fifth year, they eventually managed to get back together to continue producing funk rock music.
Unfortunately, the story of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has not always been smooth sailing. The success of "Mother‘s Milk" and "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" formed the basis of the band’s fame, after which they came face to face with the dark side of success with the death of Hillel Slovak and other band members’ attempts at getting clean.
Despite having success on their side, problems with their label and disputes within the band itself didn’t make things easy. After "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" became a huge hit, guitarist John Frusciante left the band.
A replacement was found in the form of Dave Navarro, who had previously worked with Jane‘s Addiction. "One Hot Minute" split opinions, as this album is the most cumbersome of the band’s discography, and lacks the catchy sound which the band is usually well-known for.
Frusciante eventually returned to the band, just in time to write some of their biggest hits. "Californication" saw the band break free from their past issues and forge ahead with some of their best music yet. Out of 15 songs, 6 were released as singles and another 5 songs were used for advertising purposes. It could hardly have been a bigger success!
But the Peppers were not done with their upward trajectory. With the follow-up albums “By The Way” and “Stadium Arcadium”, the Californians were finally able to write funk-rock history. Shortly afterwards John Frusciante left the band once again, to start his own solo career.
This time, he was replaced by the talented Josh Klinghoffer, who was able to show off his abilities on the album "I’m With You". The album demonstrates so much creativity, catchiness and individuality that it’s without a doubt one of RHCP’s best releases.
The Getaway - RHCP are back
5 years after "I’m With You", the Peppers came back with their 11th album, "The Getaway". Just the single, "Dark Necessities" already promised great things. The album itself surpassed all expectations yet again. The funk influences are even more pronounced than on "I’m With You", and every song has its own unmistakable groove.
No wonder, when the band has a bassist like Flea. Of course, you’ll also find all the Red Hot Chili Peppers albums in the EMP RHCP Online Shop.
