The EMP online shop offers you an extensive range of CDs by the cult band Motörhead, which was founded in 1975. The British were among the most famous rock and metal musicians in the world. Lemmy in particular, singer and front man of the band, was very popular internationally. Lemmy was born on December 24, 1945 under the name Ian Fraser Kilmister.
His father was a pastor who left Lemmys mother when he was just a little boy. Not one to let a broken home stop him, Lemmy created his own kind of music and quickly won numerous fans with his rough voice, especially in the biker scene.
In 2015 Lemmy was diagnosed with cancer - he died 2 days later and left a huge whole in the music world. Lemmy legacy is a hodgepodge of Motörhead music = most of which is available to buy in the EMP online shop.
How did Motörhead shape the music scene?
Motörhead is the 'rock n 'roll' band par excellence (the genre is debatable, but we all fondly remember the legendary phrase 'We're Motörhead and we play Rock N Roll'). Not only Lemmy's distinctive voice, but also the bands uniquely rough style of music, shaped the scene and made the group internationally famous.
Motörhead's mascot, Snaggletooth, is still highly recognisable today. Snaggletooth is a hybrid of a wild dog and a boar. Pointed teeth and two steeply curved tusks protrude from the skull, from which an iron chain dangles. The steel helmet studded with spikes looks militant. The mascot can often be seen in front of an iron cross. Joe Petagno, who designed the mascot in 1977, originally wanted to depict a Hells Angels skull. This ultimately became one of the most famous band logos of all time.
Something interesting for collectors at EMP
At EMP you will find an extensive collection of Motörhead CDs from a 40-year creative phase. There won't be much that is new, at most a few remastered versions, but real collectors own everything from Motörhead and keep looking in the EMP online shop for CDs that they don't yet have. Incidentally, there are also limited and special editions on offer, so be sure to check back regularly.
