”Hey, has anyone got the Number of the Beast?”
“You mean your mom’s number - ayoooo”

Other than the fact this should be added to the list of the best ‘your mom’ jokes around, The Number of the Beast, of course, is one of Iron Maiden’s iconic, genre-defining albums. And it’s one of the many gift sets, album packs and more we’ve got in our Iron Maiden shop…

Iron Maiden. We’re fans. We know you are too. They’re basically a band that needs no introduction but if we were to introduce them, where would we begin? With the music, of course. Their influence through their music will be felt for generations to come, having shaped and steered music history since they erupted on the scene with debut album, Iron Maiden, in 1980.

One of the most prominent acts born out of the NWOBHM – the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, the official name of the era of heavy metal that dominated British music from the 70s to the early 80s – Iron Maiden have gone on to help redefine just what heavy metal is. Using punk elements plus more progressive, experimental elements across iconic albums like Powerslave, The Number of the Beast and Somewhere in Time, Iron Maiden have always kept their sound fresh yet uniquely them.

They’ve sold over 100 million records worldwide, so, not that they’re short a few bob, we thought we’d offer you the chance to add to their total and get your hands on Iron Maiden albums, gift sets and special editions.

A journey through the decades with Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden is not just a band; it's an institution in the world of heavy metal. With a legacy that spans over four decades, they have consistently delivered albums that define the genre. But what makes each Iron Maiden album special? And if you're new to their music, where should you start? Let's take a deep dive into the rich discography of Iron Maiden to unravel the magic behind each album.

Iron Maiden albums in chronological order

Understanding the band's journey is easier when you look at their albums in chronological order. Each album represents a different phase, both in terms of musical evolution and the changing line-up of the band. Below, you'll find a roadmap to help you navigate through Iron Maiden's discography.

The early years: Setting the stage

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Iron Maiden laid the foundation for what would become a remarkable career. Their self-titled debut album "Iron Maiden" and the follow-up "Killers" were the building blocks of their unique sound. Songs like "Running Free" and "Wrathchild" became instant classics.

The Bruce Dickinson era: Rise to stardom

When Bruce Dickinson took over vocal duties in 1982, Iron Maiden entered a new phase of global stardom. Albums like "The Number of the Beast," "Piece of Mind," and "Powerslave" catapulted the band into the metal stratosphere, with anthems like "Run to the Hills" and "2 Minutes to Midnight."

The 1990s: Experimentation and change

While the 1990s saw a departure from their classic sound with albums like "No Prayer for the Dying" and "Fear of the Dark," Iron Maiden continued to experiment and evolve. Even during these years of musical exploration, the band managed to produce hits like "Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter" and "Fear of the Dark."

The 21st century: A triumphant return

The new millennium marked a return to form for Iron Maiden. With albums like "Brave New World" and "The Final Frontier," they reclaimed their throne as metal royalty. The band continues to tour and produce new music, further solidifying their status as legends.
