The realm of Symphonic Metal is reigned supreme by Nightwish. Like no other combo, the Finnish band around Floor Jansen Floor has managed to mark and expand the genre, turning it into a mainstream style. Influenced by film music, the band built itself a solid base with the release of "Angels Fall First" in 1997, featuring the soprano voice of Tarja Turunen - more than 7 million copies of the album were sold by 1998. Between 2000 and 2005, the successful team Turunen/Holopainen and the albums "Wishmaster", "Century Child" and "Once" made Nightwish extremely popular - the band even performed in the TV show Top Of The Pops which was an additional confirmation of their leading position. The single "Nemo" sold like crazy and Nightwish became a household name in the international music community.

The breach with Tarja Turunen was a surprise, followed by infightings. Finally, it came to a deadlock and Nightwish had to look for a new songstress - and they found Anette Olzon from Sweden in 2007. With Nightwish, Olzon released the two albums "Dark Passion Play" and "Imaginaerum" which were also very successful. Unfortunately, Olzon left Nightwish in the autumn of 2012, and the band worked with guest vocalists for a while. With Floor Jansen they finally found a, excellent, new female singer. On the album "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" (Nuclear Blast), Jansen could demonstrate her skills for the first time. And what can you say? The lady has surpassed all expectations - what a voice, what an album! Band members Floor Jansen, Emppu Vuorinen, Marco Hietala, Tuomas Holopanien, Troy Donockley, and Jukka Nevalainen are simply exceptional musicians - hats off to Nightwish!
